1. Name

The NORDIC CHAPTER OF IHPBA (INTERNATIONAL HEPATO-PANCREATO-BILIARY ASSOCIATION) is a nonprofit association with members from Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.

2. Purpose

The purpose is to increase knowledge and research activities within the field of disorders of the

liver, pancreas and the biliary tree, involving both clinical and translational research.

By yearly meetings stimulate the interaction between the above mentioned countries, as well as rendering state-of-the-art knowledge including the invitation of experts in the various fields.

The Nordic Chapter of IHPBA also serves to increase the knowledge, and international contacts by linking to both European-African Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (E-AHPBA) and the International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (IHPBA), promoting their respective bi-annual meetings and also the Nordic input and collaboration, both within and out of the Nordic countries.

3. Membership

All interested in hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery and research in the field may apply for membership. Membership is free of charge and can be cancelled at any timepoint without further specifying the cause.

4. Organization

The organs of the Nordic Chapter of IHPBA consists of the Council and the General Assembly. 5. The General Assembly

The General Assembly should take place at the yearly Nordic Chapter meeting, announced at least two weeks prior to the meeting. Input on the agenda should thus be done in due time before that.

6. The Council

The Council is the executive board of the Nordic Chapter of IHPBA and is composed of a President and three members from each country, respectively (Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden).

The Council conducts affairs of the Nordic Chapter of IHPBA between General Assembly meetings. Members of the Council usually serve for a three year period and can be re-elected twice.

7. Committees

The General Assembly as well as the Council may establish permanent as well as ad hoc Committees, each chaired by a member of the Council. This could include e.g. research, education, and guideline committees.

8. Communications

Regular newsletters updating coming activities in general, should come from the Council and the President on a regular basis. HPB is the official Journal of the E-AHPBA and the journal is also included in the membership fee of that society.
